  《幽靈人間》:一幢豪華的別墅內(nèi),年邁的主人坤桑遇刺身亡。他曾留下遺囑,將房子留給一對(duì)連體的雙胞胎姐妹花。但是條件只有一個(gè),姐妹倆必須為祖父首領(lǐng)三天。守靈之夜,怪事頻發(fā),鬼影幢幢,殺機(jī)四伏;《第11層天堂》:在名為“Heaven 11”的超市內(nèi),開(kāi)業(yè)不到兩個(gè)月內(nèi),接連4名店員自殺身亡。從收銀臺(tái)前的監(jiān)視器內(nèi),可以清楚看到自殺收銀員的身影。所見(jiàn)之人,不寒而栗,死亡詛咒仍在繼續(xù),純情的收銀女孩步入死局;《第八層地獄》 :命運(yùn)凄慘的女孩在大廈電梯間被粗暴蠻橫的負(fù)心漢殘忍殺害。美人香銷(xiāo)玉殞,但冤魂久久不散。電梯間內(nèi),血腥的一幕重復(fù)上演,輪回不止……

心中的殺手

  20世紀(jì)40年代,美國(guó)某個(gè)依靠石油而發(fā)展起來(lái)的小鎮(zhèn)。當(dāng)?shù)刈畲蟾缓缽厮固亍た稻S(Ned Beatty 飾)的兒子艾爾姆(Jay R. Ferguson 飾)即將成婚,然而卻有件事讓徹斯特頗感煩惱。原來(lái)艾爾姆此前和妓女喬伊絲·雷克蘭德(杰西卡?阿爾芭 Jessica Alba 飾)有染,為避免尷尬之事發(fā)生,徹斯特暗中授意警方驅(qū)逐喬伊絲,而小警察盧·福特(卡西·阿弗萊克 Casey Affleck 飾)成為了此項(xiàng)工作的具體執(zhí)行者。盧表面內(nèi)向順從,內(nèi)心卻隱藏著不為人知的秘密。短短幾周的相處,喬伊絲已然對(duì)他深深迷戀,不可自拔。誰(shuí)知在最后關(guān)頭,盧卻對(duì)喬伊絲和艾爾姆痛下殺手,從此跌入萬(wàn)劫不復(fù)的黑色深淵中……  本片根據(jù)吉姆·湯普森(Jim Thompson)的同名小說(shuō)改編。

等待方舟

  Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human beings, after the nuclear holocaust. The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart.  Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory?  n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in.  What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts.  On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired.  One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places.  Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
