 故事發(fā)生在一艘名為“托林號”的英國皇家海軍驅(qū)逐艦上，在一場激烈的海戰(zhàn)中，該驅(qū)逐艦擊落了多駕敵機，創(chuàng)下了赫赫戰(zhàn)功，但它也因為拼搏在戰(zhàn)斗的第一線而傷痕累累，最終中彈起火。在艦長金洛斯（諾埃爾·考沃德 Noel Coward 飾）的要求之下，船員們放棄了托林號，塔上了救生艇，其中包括軍士長沃爾特哈迪（伯納德·邁爾斯 Bernard Miles 飾）和新兵肖蒂（約翰·米爾斯 John Mills 飾）等人。一行人在海上艱難漂泊，全憑意志和對家人的思念才勉強幸存，最終被一艘英國軍艦救起，獲救之時，剛開始浩浩蕩蕩的240名官兵，僅剩下19人。

　　李·佩斯出演美國傳奇汽車公司德勞瑞恩的創(chuàng)始人——天才汽車設(shè)計師約翰·德勞瑞恩，影片設(shè)定在1980年代，德勞瑞恩創(chuàng)建還沒幾年，正在崛起，聚焦約翰和蘇戴奇斯飾演的Jim Hoffman的關(guān)系。Hoffman看似有趣迷人，其實他是一名前詐騙犯，現(xiàn)在為FBI工作，他來約翰這里當臥底，想要控告其販毒。兩人建立的一段有趣的bromance也很快急轉(zhuǎn)直下，行差踏錯。
