1929年的越南是法國(guó)殖民地，簡(jiǎn)（珍·瑪奇飾）是一個(gè)15歲的法國(guó)少女，在西貢女子寄宿學(xué)校讀書每逢假期簡(jiǎn)便回家，母親辦了一所很小的學(xué)校，收入甚少。簡(jiǎn)有兩個(gè)哥哥，大哥比爾吸毒成癮且橫行霸道，二哥保羅生性懦弱，常受大哥的欺負(fù)。一天簡(jiǎn)一如往常一樣告別母親乘上渡船回學(xué)校，在船上遇到一個(gè)坐黑色大轎車的闊少爺東尼（梁家輝飾）。東尼是華僑富翁的獨(dú)生子，東尼喜歡這名白人少女便去搭訕，兩人便搭上了。暫無內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)在寄宿學(xué)校里知道有的女生在外賣淫，她也想找個(gè)有錢人試試，因此很主動(dòng)與東尼交談。上岸后兩人逛了西貢，還一起上館子吃中國(guó)飯菜，東尼并用汽車送她回學(xué)校。第二天剛放學(xué)，黑色汽車就等在校門口了。暫無內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)和東尼很快就墜入愛河。東尼把簡(jiǎn)帶到他的公館，這是中國(guó)富人們常用來金屋藏嬌的地方。他倆在這里幽會(huì)、洗澡、玩耍。有時(shí)晚上也不回學(xué)校，校方只好通知她的母親，然而……

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
