　　兩名高等法院的法官遭殺手謀殺，法學(xué)院高材生達(dá)比（朱莉婭?羅伯茨 Julia Roberts 飾）隨后開(kāi)始調(diào)查此案，起草一份該案的報(bào)告，名為《塘鵝報(bào)告》。達(dá)比找到了記者格蘭（丹澤爾?華盛頓 Denzel Washington 飾），因?yàn)樗亲詈笠幻?jiàn)到其中一名法官的人，希望能得到他的幫助調(diào)查此案。一天格蘭接到了一個(gè)神秘人來(lái)電，此人自稱知道誰(shuí)是該案兇手，格蘭跟蹤到了此人，可惜未能攔下他。　　此時(shí)，總統(tǒng)暗中命令相關(guān)人士不要插手此案。格蘭由此起疑，隨后調(diào)查到了總統(tǒng)和馬氏集團(tuán)關(guān)系密切，而且一切證據(jù)都表明，馬氏與兩位法官的死有著千絲萬(wàn)縷的關(guān)系！
