復仇之溪

三船敏郎,加山雄三,司葉子,稻葉義男,土屋嘉男,平田昭彥1940年9月,德、意、日三國成立同盟。山本五十六被任命為日本聯(lián)合艦隊總司令,并不得不“違背自己的意愿”,接受命令對美、英、荷等國開戰(zhàn)。1941后12月8日零時,山本五十六親自下達了“1280”密碼命令,并親自率領部隊偷襲美國珍珠港,從而對美軍太平洋艦隊造成重創(chuàng),大勝而歸。隨后山本五十六建議與美國講和,但意見未被采納。在指揮中途島戰(zhàn)役時,由于戰(zhàn)略上的重大失誤,日本海軍遭受慘重損失。形勢陡然逆轉,美軍攻勢如虹,日軍兵敗如山倒。瓜達康納島上有三萬多名日本陸軍,他們遭到了美軍飛機的晝夜轟炸,陷于絕境。山本五十六派出艦隊炮擊美軍基地,協(xié)助尚存的陸軍安全撤退。1943年4月18日,山本五十六為了鼓動前線部隊的士氣,乘坐一架轟炸機到前線視察。沒想到日軍的密碼被美軍竊取,美軍派出空軍機隊將山本五十六的座機擊落,一代軍人山本五十六就此碎尸于太平洋上空。
殯葬師
馬索·曼恩,愛德華·福隆,安吉利·贊巴拉娜,Luis Da Silva Jr,安東尼·邁克爾·弗雷德里克他(Method Man 飾)是一個沉默的男子,永遠禮帽風衣,沉默地穿梭在這座道德淪喪、破敗絕望的城市的大街小巷。死亡每天發(fā)生,司空見慣,不知天高地厚的年輕人們呼嘯而過,揮霍生命。白天他是市殯儀館的殯儀師,以嫻熟專業(yè)且莊重的手法清理殘破不堪的尸體,帶死者走過最后一程;夜晚則端坐那間被暴怒吵鬧的鄰居所包圍的小屋里,細心制作動物標本,為他們的主人找回最后的安慰?! ∧程?,一具女性尸體在他死水般的內(nèi)心世界引起漣漪。尸體上紋有波提切利的名作《維納斯誕生》,似曾相識的圖案勾起了他對往事的回憶。城市的自毀仍在繼續(xù),他也無法永保平靜……

The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
