這是一部現(xiàn)實(shí)版的《茶花女》，片中將故事中的角色與歷史上真實(shí)存在的人物（即茶花女的原型、艷冠巴黎的Alphonsine Plessis）貫穿在一起，上演了一出戲中戲。故事元素還是取材于原著，女主角（伊莎貝爾于佩爾 飾）原本是個(gè)貧苦的鄉(xiāng)下姑娘，被父親出賣(mài)后流浪到巴黎，憑著天生麗質(zhì)過(guò)上了交際花的生活，被人稱(chēng)為是;茶花女最終因肺病發(fā)作而離開(kāi)了人間。本片對(duì)原著做出的最大改編就是將原著作者小仲馬的創(chuàng)作經(jīng)歷成為敘事的一條主線，與大仲馬一同出現(xiàn)在故事中，愛(ài)上茶花女的年輕人;阿爾芒;也換成了小仲馬本人。
